ODIOLOWO OJUWOYE LCDA LAUNCHES TREE PLANTING.

Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA today launched the tree planting exercise. The event took place at the basketball court in Ilupeju area. The Vice Chairman, Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon Seyi Jakande, represented the Chairman, Hon Rasaq Olusola Ajala, at the event. Delivering the speech on behalf of the Chairman, Hon Jakande said: "The tree planting exercise has become an annual event to encourage and promote environmental education. He said: "The theme for this year, "Clean and Green is our Perfect Dream", aims to support continuous environmental awareness and motivate people to tackle the cause and effect of global warming and also create an impact in fighting climate change. While the Tree Planting exercise is a platform to promote green ideas and sustainable solution to the environment degradation." He added that, "Our Local council development area has benefited immensely from Tree planting exercise over the years and urged the people to support the program. He implored them to abstain from deforestation in the name of site clearance for infrastructural development. He said people should take permission from appropriate authority before embarking on any construction." He urged the people to support the government in building a beautiful and greener environment that we can call our home. The representative of the governor at the event, Mr Ayodele Osifeso, who delivered his speech at the event said: "The event is taking place in all the local government and local council development area across the state . He said: "Since the inception of the programme over a decade ago, it has addressed the issues of growing apprehension of climate change and upgrading the social value in our communities across the State. It has also addressed the issue of ECO system. He said: " The Theme for this year's Tree planting is " Clean and Green is our perfect Dream ". He therefore called for the support from the people in government's effort for cleaner, greener, healthier and environmental sustainable entity as captured in its THEMES agenda which he believed will be executed through collective responsibilities. He said:" The modest achievement recorded in the GREENY program is precipitated in the support from _Lagosians_from all walks of life who are passionately embracing the culture of Tree planting in support of state efforts towards a sustainable environment. He said: " we should endeavor to plant and nurture Trees to survive. He said: " Those who put up gigantic structures and industrialists who put up ultra modern factories, Shopping malls, car parks, mansions and Mega petrol stations without GREENY does not compensate what has been taken away from nature. He advised that certain percentages of our properties are preserved for GREENY as stated in the space planning law." Trees were later planted by the dignitaries at the event. Among the people that graced the event were the representative of the governor, Mr Babajide Oushola Sanwoolu, Mr Ayodele Osifeso, Vice Chairman, Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon Seyi Jakande, Secretary to the council, Mr Mujeeb Ayinde Daramola, Leader of the legislative arm house, Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon Rilwan Ajenifuja, APC Chairman, Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Alhaji Ganiyu Adebisi, Supervisor for Environment, Hon Bashir Magbade, SA on Community affairs, Hon Mukaila Bakare, majority leader, Hon Akinlade Bamidele, Chief Whip Hon Nasiru Mustapha, councillor for ward C2, Hon Sanni Ismail, Ward B1, Hon Richard Oguntoye, Council Treasure Mr Shuaib Badmus, HODs budget Mrs Bolade Adebayo, Agric, Mrs Kehinde Oladunjoye, Environment Mr Femi Oladapo. Others were the Clerk of the house, Mr Kazeem Adeseye, Legal Officer, Mrs Bukola Otufowora, representative of Oba of Odiolowo, Chief Jimoh Apena, Iyaloja of Ojuwoye Market, APC LGA Exco, ward Chairmen and Community Development Association representatives.
